Meet the Osterhaus Pharmacy Staff"Where you know your pharmacist and your pharmacist knows you!"Robert (Bob) OsterhausRobert J. (Bob) Osterhaus received his BSPh from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1952. He served in the U. S. Army from 1952 to 1954. After serving as a staff pharmacist in Anamosa, Iowa from 1954 to 1965, he purchased the present Osterhaus Snyder Pharmacy in October of 1965. Osterhaus has served as a member of the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners from 1972 to 1977 and chairman from 1974-1976. He was president of the Iowa Pharmacists Association in 1983. He was a member of the first Board of Governors of the APhA PAC (American Pharmacists Association). After serving as a member of the APhA Board of Trustees from 1987 to 1990 he was elected as the 1992-1993 president of the APhA (the national professional society of pharmacists). He served a 1995-1997 term as a member of the executive committee of the Community Pharmacy Section of the Federation of International Pharmacy (FIP). He served on the board of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education for seven years and was president from 2000-2002 . He serves as a director of The Community Pharmacy Foundation and the Pharmacy Freedom Fund. He served in the Iowa State House of Representatives from January of 1996 through 2004.
Osterhaus has been recognized with the A. H. Robins Bowl of Hygeia Award, the Merck Sharp & Dohme Award, the Iowa Distinguished Pharmacist Award and as a Distinguished Alumni of the University of Iowa and of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. In 1999 APhA recognized him with the Hubert H. Humphrey Award. The Federation of International Pharmacy recognized him in 2001 for The Lifetime Achievement in the Practice of Pharmacy award. In 2005 he was awarded the profession of pharmacyÕs highest recognition, the Remington Honor Medal. Community activities have included service as president of the Maquoketa Chamber of Commerce and the Timber City Development Company. Current memberships include the Maquoketa Rotary Club, Sacred Heart Church Finance Committee and the Knights of Columbus. He was a co-founder of the Maquoketa Area Community Foundation and served as its chairman for seven years. Matt Osterhaus, BS PharmMatt is a graduate of The University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. He is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and Drake University College of Pharmacy, serving as a preceptor for Community Care Pharmacy Practice residents and Doctor of Pharmacy students in Pharmaceutical Care. He is a member of Outcomes™ Certified Pharmaceutical Care Network and has been instrumental in furthering community-based research in Iowa. Matt has completed the Iowa Center for Pharmaceutical Care training program and the APhA Community Pharmacy Management program. He served on the Iowa Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Commission from 1985-2000, and the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners from 1993-2002. He currently serves on the Iowa Medical Assistance Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee, the Board of Directors of Pharmacist Mutual Insurance Company, the Board of Governors of Outcomes Pharmaceutical Healthcare LLC and the Board of Directors of the Iowa Pharmacy Foundation. He is an active member of his local, state, and national pharmacy associations, serving in a variety of leadership positions, currently serving as a Trustee of the American Pharmacists Association. Mr. Osterhaus is actively involved in community development currently serving on the boards of MIDAS (Maquoketa Industrial Development Assistance Services), Timber City Development Corporation and Maquoketa State Bank and as President of the Maquoketa Area YMCA. Marilyn Osterhaus, BS PharmMarilyn graduated in 1980 from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She is a member of Outcomes™ Certified Pharmaceutical Care Network Marilyn has completed the Iowa Center for Pharmaceutical Care training program and has been providing specialized care in various disease states with an interest in menopause and use of compounded bio-identical hormone products. She's a member of the American Pharmacy Association and the Dubuque Area Pharmacist Association having served as president. She's also a member of the Iowa Pharmacy Association and served on the board. She currently is a member of the University of IA College of Pharmacy alumni board. Tammy Bullock, PharmDTammy is a 1998 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She has worked as a pharmacist at Osterhaus Pharmacy since 1998. She completed the Community Pharmacy Practice Residency at Osterhaus Pharmacy in 1998-99. She has served as Dubuque Area Pharmacy Membership and Program Coordinator and as an Iowa Pharmacy Association House Delegate. She is currently serving on IPA’s the Board of Trustees. She was recently recognized as IPA Distinguished Young Pharmacist. Connie Connolly, BS PharmConnie graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1992 She joined our pharmacy team in June 2006. She currently serves on the Iowa Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Committee and the Board of Optometry. She is an active member of IPA. She has practiced in community pharmacy for over 22 years. Dale Yoder, BS PharmDale, a 1966 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, recently joined our staff. Dale became a partner of Carson Pharmacy in 1970. In 1979, he and business partner, Thor Holmgren, relocated to West Platt and changed the name to Family Pharmacy, Ltd. Dale acquired sole ownership of Family Pharmacy, Ltd. in 1983 and practiced there until July of 2007 when the business was acquired by Osterhaus Pharmacy. Dale is currently enjoying his position as staff pharmacist (part time) and is looking forward to winding down his career in the patient oriented atmosphere of a progressive community pharmacy. When not working Dale will be spending time with his two children, five grandchildren, wife, and other family, and pursuing his many hobbies (hunting, fishing, canoeing, and woodworking). Laura Gurnee, PharmDDr. Laura Gurnee is the 11th University of Iowa Community Practice Resident at Osterhaus Pharmacy. A graduate of Drake University College of Pharmacy in May 2007, Laura is originally from Appleton, Wisconsin. She also has a concentration and specialty in Diabetes Management. Her goals for the residency year are to provide effective and compassionate pharmaceutical care in the community and increase her skills for teaching pharmacy students. She now lives in Maquoketa with her fiancˇ, Kyle.
